MP visits A Level students

Government and Politics Students welcomed Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis to discuss the life of an MP.

 
Mr Jarvis talked about his career to date followed by a question and answer session. Students were given an insight into the daily life of a politician and how constituency matters are dealt with on a national level through parliament. As well as an understanding into new ways on how to access the political career ladder.

 
Student Emily Wilcock, said: “I found the Dan Jarvis talk very informative. He answered each question very thoroughly and explained his answers to us. He is a very interesting to listen to and it was reassuring to listen to a politician with the interests of his constituency at heart.”

 
Lewis Atkinson, a Sixth Form student, added: “I found the Dan Jarvis talk very interesting as a student of politics. I would love to do something like this again because for an aspiring politician like me to listen to an MP is fantastic opportunity. I found the questions and answer session really useful.”

 
Principal Liz Leek said: “We were delighted Dan Jarvis could come in and talk to our students about his career in Parliament. Guest speakers are an important part of our activities and we welcome inspiring people to share their success and experiences with our students.”
