Musical Theatre Society took their audience on a whistle-stop tour of classic musicals.
Their newly devised piece named ‘The Night at the Musicals’ featured music from, Hairspray, Cats, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Chicago, Hamilton, Dogfight, If/Then and several Disney movies. Audience members were encouraged to sing along and join in, which made the performance come to life.
The Musical Theatre Society is organised by twelve passionate A Levels students who have gained an incredible set of skills in teamwork, marketing, production and organisational, which will set them in good stead for when they go to university or find a job within industry.
Louis Piper, a Barnsley Sixth Form student and member of the Musical Theatre Society, said: “This was a brilliant opportunity to showcase amazing talent. It’s fantastic the Sixth Form College provides us with the opportunity to create our own society and carry out our hobbies.”
Karen Anderson, Director of Quality and Standards at the Sixth Form, added: “The students have worked incredibly hard to produce an excellent show. I’m very proud of what they have achieved; it is a privilege to work with such talented and dedicated young people.”
