Access to A Levels. A Three Year A Level Pathway

This  three year A Level course designed for those learners who wish to study an A Level programme but do not meet the initial A Level entry requirements. It is a full time course and is studied during the day.

Subject Content

Learners will have the opportunity to improve their maths and/or English grade and take additional GCSE subjects in order to bring their progress 8 score up to the required level . The GCSE subjects on offer are as follows;

  • English (AQA )
  • Maths (AQA )
  • Film Studies (WJEC)
  • Sociology (AQA)
  • Science Core (AQA)
  • Science Additional (AQA)
  • Computer Science (Edexcel)

You will study four subjects and one tutorial over a five day timetable.

 

 Entry requirements

You will generally have a minimum of three GCSEs at grade 4 and above, however each student will be assessed on a case by case basis.

You will need to be able to attain at least 5 GCSE’s at grade 4 or above at the end of the academic year to progress to A Levels. In addition to this you will need to attain the specific entry criteria for their chosen individual A Level subjects. Please check the A Level course page for A Level entry criteria.

Assessment

Depending on subjects chosen there will be a mixture of exams and controlled assessment.

Progression Opportunities

Successful completion of the programme will enable you to progress onto the two year A level programme.
