A Level students from Barnsley Sixth Form College have had the first experience of their brand new town centre campus.
All students returning to the Sixth Form after the Christmas break were welcomed in through the main entrance on St Mary’s Place and will spend their first two days orientating themselves with the building before getting down to their mock exams.
The £18m campus, which provides an impressive gateway into Barnsley, offers a first-class learning environment for A Level students from South Yorkshire and beyond and houses all of the college’s A Level provision.
Although many students had a tour of the campus in December, for some it was their very first time in the building.
First year student Kenan Hodson, 17, said: “I had already had a tour of the building but it’s good to actually be in. I like that we are all starting the New Year here and learning where everything is together. The new Sixth Form will offer a lot more than the old Eastgate and SciTech campuses and I’m interested to see how it all develops.”
Second year student India Birchall, 17, added: “It’s so big, yet looking at the building plans it looks really easy to find your way around. I’m most looking forward to getting to use the great facilities in particular the EnRich auditorium for our drama sessions.”
