Sixth Form students gain unique insights during educational visit to Florence

Barnsley Sixth Form College A Level Fine Art and Photography students have been inspired by a range of magnificent sights on a trip to Florence, Italy.

The students explored a wide range of art galleries and historic archaeological sites. This immersive experience provided them with invaluable insights to support their independent projects for their A Levels.

“I learned quite a lot, especially on artists that I was researching such as Leonardo or Michelangelo and will most certainly help for my sketchbook, with all the pictures I could get will really help my sketchbook be more thorough and informative.”

During their visit, the students had the opportunity to explore some of Florence’s most renowned cultural landmarks, including Uffizi Gallery, Boboli Gardens, Palazzo Pitt, Galleria Dell’Accademia and Musei di Fiesole.

Benjamin Warris, a Fine Art, Biology and Chemistry A Level student, said: “I really enjoyed all the places we could visit within Florence and how all the galleries had great information on the art piece being presented and an amazing amount of history that was kept today.

Chloe Moulding, A Level Fine Art and Photography tutor and the trip organiser, added: “The visit to Florence was an incredible opportunity for our students to engage with art in a way that goes beyond textbooks and classroom discussions. Seeing the works of great artists up close and exploring the historical sites has truly broadened the student’s perspectives and fuelled their passion for art.”
