• You are aged 16 to 18 on 31 August 2024.
• You are 19 or older and looking to study your first full Level 3 qualification.
• You receive certain benefits.*

We know studying can be an expensive time so we offer a range of options to help all our students.

Financial support

If you have a household income of less than £37,000 you could be eligible for financial support to contribute to the cost of travel, food and study programme essentials.
If you are 19+ and have a household income of less than £22,000 you could be eligible for support with travel, food and study programme essentials. If your household income is between £22,001 and £37,000 you could be eligible for travel funding.*

If you are aged 16-18 and in care, are a care leaver or receive a benefit in your own right, such as Income Support/Universal Credit, please apply for the Learner Support Fund to receive help with the cost of food, travel and study programme essentials.

Food

Apply to the Learner Support Fund for financial help towards the cost of food while you study. If you are eligible, you will receive a weekly allowance on your student card to use at any of the catering facilities within the College. If you received free school meals or believe you are now eligible, you can apply online at: learnersupportfund.barnsley.ac.uk
