Our Politics students gained an insight into parliamentary life from Barnsley East MP Stephanie Peacock during a digital surgery conducted via video link.
The students had the opportunity to question Stephanie as part of the Digital Surgeries programme, created by social enterprise The Politics Project.
The Politics Project aims to transform the way in which students engage with their elected representatives by connecting students and politicians using online platforms such as Skype and Zoom.
Stephanie said: “It’s always a pleasure to chat to local students, to hear their views, and to discuss my role and the current political situation with them.
“It was great to take part in this Digital Surgery with students from Barnsley Sixth Form College and I’m pleased so many of our young people are engaged with politics, how it impacts their communities, and how they can get involved and make a difference.”
Harriet Andrews, Director and Founder of The Politics Project, added: “We really enjoyed working with Barnsley Sixth Form College to hold the digital surgery with Stephanie Peacock. The students asked some excellent questions and really demonstrated how engaged they were in political issues and in their community.”
